Since I completed the first 4 weeks of the schedule in July, there were no surprises on today's run. I knew to expect a hard but doable workout. I was really tired, though. Just as my head hit the pillow last night a thunderstorm rolled in. Florida, more notably Tampa, is the lightning capital of North America. Our thunderstorms are severe and intense. The rapid and wild flashes of the lightning are like a strobe light but it's the thunder that will get your blood pumping. The crack of the thunder is as if God is taking a giant sledgehammer to the earth. It rattles the windows and doors and when the storm is right on top of you and there is no delay between lightning and thunder, it will rattle your teeth. I love thunderstorms and I love when it rains at night but I don't love it when I'm 30 minutes past my bedtime and I'm on a countdown until 4 a.m. Thanks to Mother Nature's little temper tantrum last night, I'm almost 2 hours light on sleep. Now I'm on a countdown until bedtime... only 4 more hours.

I have a love/hate relationship with t-storms. I personally love them while they FREAK my daughter out which = lack of sleep. :( I'm with you. 3 hours 45 minutes still sleep??!? ;)
No thunder in this part of the worl. Just rain drizzle and fog.
After a cursory look at your blog it would appear that you are following a Furman training plan (3 runs per week with purpose – meaning that all run s are hard with cross training on the other days). These are very challenging training plans! With the current heat and humidity in the south some of these workouts might not be achievable. Allow yourself a little leeway right now as you start to build intensity and volume.
You will be blazingly fast this fall!
TRI-James, yes I am using the FIRST program from the Run Less, Run Faster book. I've completed the HM program twice and saw great improvements so I'm hoping I can keep up with the Marathon schedule. I definitely relax on the suggested pace for the long run to offset this opressive heat. I'm really looking forward to a speedy fall :)
It was 100% humidity and lots of heat here in Indy..good luck with the training!
Teresa, thanks for coming by, AND leaving your mark!
I am so excited that you are training for a marathon. What a wonderful inspiration you are to your children!
Good luck with the training—I look forward to following your progress!
